i have a 2001 ford police intercepter with 105,000 miles, good oil in trany and engine, no leaks, the car is in good condition, only the paint part, it was black and white, so i took it in to paint 3 days ago and today i came by to check it out, and when the guy started the engine it squealed for a few seconds and then gradually stoped but still sounded weird espesially when backing up, well he told me dont wory its just the belt, he then opend the hood and sprayed some lubercant and the sqeal stoped but then after a few hours came back again when we started the engine, if its the belt why all of the sudden its squealing the belts are new replaced at 100,000 miles. whats the problem?

painter probably got some paint overspray on the belt it might wear off but i would get it replaced. If it keeps squealing it means it is slipping and is getting hot which will ruin the belt (make it brittle) and will most likely fail leaving you stranded

if its the power steeling belt the reason its going to squeal is because its loose. When u turn over the engine the crank turns faster than the alternator or the power steering pump pully, the belt slips on them and makes a loud squeal. Tighten the belts up.

Belt might be just loose, not bad. Have someone tighten them.
