I am to buy a laptop this coming week, and I want to be able to access the internet wherever I go. What companies provide this, how much does it cost, can you purchase it outright without any credit checks ( I am fine with a contract), etc.
Please help me with this decision and thank you ahead of time.

I guess I should have added this earlier. I am buying the Experion 1501. It has the card in it, but they sad I'd have to go with a company to provide wireless if I wanted to connect to the net outside of the home, but it may pick up a signal if someone has it close to me? Because I want to take it to work and Krystals is close by and also a college, so if I connect to my home net here I may be able to connect off of thier signal at work?

you dont need to pay for wireless, you just need it for the modem, which is about 50-60 bucks roughly. Your laptop also needs a wireless card to get on, just hook up the wireless to your modem and you can get right on anywhere at your house.

Most laptops nowadays have a wireless adapter built in. It will also nice to have a DVD writer, and 1 GB memory. You should be able to get one from Dell for about $500 -600.

most laptops nowadays come with built in wireless for networking. if you have highspeed internet at home already, you just need to purchase a wireless router and make sure the laptop is equipped with wireless connectivity. if you want internet anywhere you go, you need to check with cellphone comapnies. at&t, sprint, and verizon offer these services.

There is no service that good yet. Clearwater provide zone by zone service, but you will need their Modem with you all the time within their zones.
In the house, all you need is a good modem/router.
