In large measure it will depend on budget, and what you'd like to have re-done.

Many things are OK for a DIY; while some things might at least take some specialized skills.

Example: "Like Floors"

Bathrooms are most often Ceramic Tile; Vinyl Tile: Sheet Vinyl.

Rooms other than a kitchen are often carpeted; or have Laminates or hardwood installed.

Nothing might be beyond the capability of a DIY; but certainly some basic principals have to be followed.

Once it's determined, figured out, and installed and IF flooring is not your only concern; then paint; etc. is another step in the total process; you might consider.

To have family involved would certainly take some of the stresses OFF Mom however.

Your question sounds like you have a good reason to call a professional that will tell you what needs to be done and give you an estimate on the cost.

DO you want carpet or tile or pergo/hardwood...think of that part first. It is very easy to do each on your own...I'd be glad to give pointers if you tell me what your looking to do.
