I would fund more children's support groups YMCA, after school programs etc.....
I would get the Chief of Police and CPS involved in a crack down with the drug dealers in the impoverished neighborhood. They do not do this because the local government does not want the drug dealers moving where they can not keep an eye on them. Also they want to put any effort in helping the Amarillo poor. If a person from outside Amarillo would actually come into our city they would see that the old South still is living. Whites and their neighborhood have no drug dealing. In Th e Black neighborhoods is where all the cocaine, crack and marijuana is sold. In the Hispanics mostly marijuana some powder, but in the white area where the Mayor and the Chief of Police live and all the city council live. They would have a drug house out of commission in a months time if one were to plop itself their and start dealing. I have lived in My ghetto for 5 years. They know who the main player is who has a clothing store which is a front to launder his money and for the years I have lived here the police harass those who complain. The poor old people here are too lethargic and the young are hopeless. I hope someone reads this and actually cares. Otherwise it's just a waste of time thinking of what one would do as a Mayor when no one actually cares.

give all my family and friends keys to the city...
learn as much as I could about my city...
go to lunch at a posh downtown restaurant and probably get in right away and maybe get a free lunch...
end the day with a rousing game of golf with the comptroller and deputy mayor!!
