I haven't run into one question of yours that has been stupid... you've got to get over that girl!

Philosophy has a lot of different applications: logic, ethics, art, etc. Some of it does help me understand myself better. I can reveal some errors in beliefs that I have. That allows me to question how I came to gain those beliefs and then reject or accept them as a thinking human being, not just because someone told me that I should believe in these things.

I also find it comforting that some of the big questions about life, love, existence etc, have been thought about for at least thousands of years. Even if a certain philosophical line of reasoning by one of the 'biggies' in philosophy is shown now to be naive or wrong, you can appreciate and learn from those lines of thought.

The outcome of philosophy should be clarity. But generally to get to that clarity there are a lot of complex winding paths.
I usually find lots of interesting things along the way though I haven't found the end of the path yet.

Peace

for me, philosophy is the most curious branch of anything because it's a never-ending process of inquiry, and it implies that as humans we have the capability and ability to question everything we see or hear or even feel . . the outcome depends on what you have learned . . it may enable you to understand the world around you, maybe a little of yourself as part of a society, but never yuorself alone for another branch of science deals with that if you're referring to human behaviour. philosophy lets us exhaust our mind over a variety of possiblities and as time goes by certain answers change, and are challenged over time by new minds. it doesn't quite make you understand life more but it gives you answers to questions about life that you may find relevant to your own . =)

In my view, the true outcome of philosophy is deeper knowledge that adds wisdom to our intelligence, enabling us to live our lives more peacefully and happily in consonance with ourselves, others and the rest of the world.

It merely gives the enabling knowledge and wisdom...... and unless we actualize the same, through spirituality, in the way we live our life, the ultimate outcome of tranquil co-existence with our inner self and the rest of the objective world would remain elusive and hence happiness on a sustaining basis would not be achieved.
