um... i think I would cross multiply. which means if you had this written on a paper um... like x-7 over x-1... do you know what i mean? like how you would write fractions...
then you will multiply 11(x-1)= (x-1) (x-7). then you simplify. 11x -11 = x^2 - 8x +7. then you move all the terms to one side and make the equation equal to 0 so you can factor. then you will get x^2-19x+18 right? then you will get (x-18) (x-1)=0 ten you will get x=18 and 1. Make sure the answers fit or check your answers. If i plug in 18 in the original equation, will the equation be correct? If you did it.. yes it would.. and if i plug in 1 in the original equation, will the equation be correct? I dont think so... therefore, your answer is x=18. mult by x-1 to both sides and you get

x= 11+7
x= 18

(x-7/x-1) = (11/x-1)
(x-7/x-1)-(11/x-1) =0
[(x-7)-11]/(x-1)= 0
x-7-11=0 [bcoz, (x-1)0= 0]
x-18=0
x=18
