Can anyone tell me how to, first, protect my writing from being copied, and, second, how to get it in front of any artists? Thank you! D.

Send two copies to the copyright office at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. You can probably google the address and anything else you'd have to send there. Also, you can send yourself the song in the mail. Just don't open it when you receive it. I think it is called a poor man's copyright. It is still better to get it registered through the copyright office though. As to how to get it in front of an artist, I don't know. Try singing it at a live mike like Violet did in Coyote Ugly.

It really depends on WHO you are in the music biz. If you are a no name (by that i mean you dont have any major celebrity connections), your really not going to be able to get your song across to many professional artists. An up-and-coming artist maybe, and for that check myspace, theres TONS of unknown artists on there. But dont expect your song to go too far in the industry, all professional artists already have their own song writers.
