I saw on 60 Minutes a show about how calories need to be displayed at the store. McDonalds and other food chains provide a calorie chart on their website. Honestly I don't think showing calories all over the place is going to stop people from buying food.

As far as obesity that is simply because of irresponsibility. We are supposed to take care of our bodies.

Personally I will find myself having a burger here and there for lunch because it costs too much to eat healthy all the time. Inflation is crazy.

I have done lots of research on the internet concerning healthy eating. One particular site I visited belonged to a medical doctor. He mentioned a conversation he had with one of his patients who worked for an large insurance firm. This patient complained to the doctor that his insurance company had recently paid a very large insurance claim to a company that was shipping in large amounts of animal fat from another country. Apparently the ship got damaged and sank taking its entire cargo of beef fat to the bottom of the ocean. The doctor was curious as to why would anyone want to ship in such large amounts of beef fat. The patient told the doctor that this company sells beef fat to a large fast food company in America where it is used as filler in their hamburgers. More fat filler means less meat in their hamburgers. And because this fat comes from animal beef, this fast food company can still legally advertise that their hamburgers are 100% pure beef. The doctor did not indicate the name of that fast food company at his web site because he didn't want to get into legal trouble. But after learning this, I stopped eating hamburgers at all fast food restaurants.

Yes, I think they are. That man in New York wants all Fast Food places to display the calorie and nutritional info on the menu boards. I think that having the calorie info next to the price is not going to stop someone from eating what they want. McDonald's puts calorie and nutritional info on the paper wrappers and containers, so the info is available more conveniently (vs. Internet web sites).

If people are that concerned about Calories then just don't eat there. Everyone needs to exercise some level of self control and take personal responsibility for the choice they make in life.

Yes. I grew up on Mcd's. Every Sunday after church as a child, I had a happy meal. I am not overweight and not a person in my family is. I think the person is the blame. You have to burn more calories than you eat and people need to understand that and stop blaming others.

Blame the extremists because they are the one's who get too wound up over the calories and get these fast food joints in trouble.
I also agree that it's not the Fast Food joints that are making people obese, that is the people's fault because we all know that everything should be eaten in moderation.

well i did some research and found out that they never post their calorie menus if they do they put them behind something (off super size me) but if they all had to post them i would agree because people are already over weight and it's crazy but they still don't care if their heart is failing they will still eat the whoppers, and big macs! Just ask for your grave stone have a cheeseburger on it.

Of course they are being attacked too harshly. No one ever wants to take responsibility for themselves. And the control freaks of the world want to take away anything that others may enjoy.

They are an easy target for food snobs. If they did not make their customers happy by the kind of food they offer they would have gone out of business.
