It's possible. There are 3 'real' phases a civilization will go through given enough time ~ i'm talking about deep time here ~ billions to thousands of trillions of centuries . (1) harness the energy the home world provides including its parent star. (2) harness the energy from a million suns. (3) Gather the entire amount of energy from galaxies. Zero (0) gathers resources from home world and convert to energy. Which type do you think we are? How long do you think it will take humanity to get to type 3?

Probably not.

The nearest star to us is 4.5 Light Years away, and the majority of the stars being researched for possible earthlike planets are within a range of 4.5 to 100 Light years distance.

Since our fastest space ship only travels at
roughly 40,000 Miles Per HOUR, and
100 Light Years is
6 Trillion Miles x 100,
a voyage to some distant star might take
1000 to 2000 years.

assuming we dont kill ourselves i bet we will. closest one so far is about 20.5 lightyears away. that seems far, but think about it. 100 years ago cars were fairly new, airplanes were amazing new ideas, and televisions werent even dreamed of.

now look at us, we have supersonic jets that are capable of carrying several fully automatic machine guns and a single bomb that could destroy an entire city. we have hi def tvs receiving a signal from a satellite above the earth. we have solar powered cars and cars able to travel at mach 1. weve put a man on the moon. we have probes going out of the solar system. we can create new elements.

and the most amazing invention of the last 100 years. we have computers. how amazing is that, in a few decades theve created a computer that did simple calculations and had lightbulbs for circuits to a computer you can carry around with you, has microchips, and has access to the internet. the internet! you can learn anything you want to in under 5 minutes. hell i could tell you nearly every particle in particle physics and i learned all of it online.

in 200 years imagine how much that technology will improve. and its not going to improve arithmetically, oh no. we have better machines that will let us build it better and bigger. computers that can tell us what the next generation of computers should be like. in 200 years the world will be very different.

I don't see that quite happening. An astronaut who travels to the International space station has to go through hundred of checks including health conditions and necessary training. It would be hard to believe that an average human being will be as fit as the astronaut to travel into space. The force of gravity will cause enough damage that could prove fatal. There's no other place as fine as earth which gives you all the required resources to survive.

inhabitants improve is a few thing that Doomsday enthusiasts have been speaking approximately for years. It exchange into as quickly as believed that the Human inhabitants ought to no longer exceed 4 billion by way of fact there does no longer be sufficient room on earth for each individual to stay and nonetheless be waiting to consume or maybe breath. at present the inhabitants is around the 6 billion mark and that i for it is easy to nonetheless breath and there remains food. in actuality there is feilds that are being left fallow for the subsequent year or 2 so an more advantageous high quality of food could be produced. We as a spiecis have the potential to think of and plan for destiny activities. No different animal has that potential or a minimum of to the quantity that we've. A squirle working example isn't storing nuts by way of fact it knows iciness is coming and has to confirm it has sufficient for the completed iciness, like a nut an afternoon. It shops food by way of fact that is programed into that is DNA and instincts. i've got at present study comments, no longer by potential of a single "scientist" yet ones that have been revealed by potential of a huge group that certainly particularly researched the situation and got here up with the type that if we don't improve our contemporary food, housing and hassle-loose medical understanding, that the Human inhabitants can attain approximately 12 billion earlier we attain severe issues. So it takes us approximately 10 years to improve by potential of a thousand million and that's no longer counting the reality that the international inhabitants is very authentic heavy which potential there are alot greater previous human beings than youthful ones. easily there will be issues that pop up, no one will see them coming and that they are going to be at last delt with. we are able to proceed to improve as a human beings and our inhabitants will improve to boot.
