I don't really celebrate Christmas but its my favourite time of year... just cos everyone is that little bit more jolly, its the only time of year that total strangers will smile and say hello on the street. Then there's the fact that the whole family is off work so we have the big dinner - traditional Xmas dinner is a must. Then i can sit around having a laugh and watching the usual rubbish on TV. Then i eat turkey and stuffing sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and probably 2 midnight feasts for the next few days... Good times

I am a tad conflicted about Christmas. It is supposed to be about the birth of Jesus Christ. I think that was the original idea, anyway. Now it is a mad rush to the mall and buy stuff and agonize about how many cards to write and who gets what and I am exhausted and have a migraine and leave me alone I will be in my room wake me shake me in the morning, Good Lord, is it Christmas already - ?
I go through this foolishness every year. I wind up sending about 25 cards, eat too many cookies, have a good time, love a good blizzard, pray for a White Christmas, put candles in our windows, make people feel good, help others over the rough spots, and come out the other side in one piece come January second of next year.

I do. I love spending time with my family, the special food, the presents, but I absolutely detest the run up to it! Why do people go so mad?? For weeks before you can't park in the town centres, the roads are total chaos and people panic buy food like theres going to be a siege!! The shops are only shut for one day and even then most of the corner shops in my area are open Christmas day!! I hate the way the shops advertise things and suck people into buying loads of rubbish its almost like if you see coloured lights go and chuck your money at them! I don't understand people going into huge debt over it either. Surely (whether you are Christian or not) we should be teaching our children that Christmas is about making either other happy and spending time with each other - not a consumer orgy!!

It's a mix between disgust/procrastination and happiness/anticipation. I'm pretty sure that Jesus wouldn't approve of it, if he were to rise again. Don't know if that will ever happen, but I know that time with family has no equal. Giving and receiving presents are great, but I feel a tad tacky that I am bombarded from all directions with commercial after commercial.

I love Christmas. I love the decorations, the music that comes on in the stores, the snow that sticks to the edges of the evergreen trees, and the love that spreads around.

Yes, I like to have a break and spend time with my friends and family. I like the food and the presents. I like the decorations and the community spirit and the alcohol.
But it is hard on the bank balance!

I love it!!!!! Everything about it. My favourite thing about it is how it makes kids believe in magic. The excitement that they feel that santa is coming and he is going to be in their homes and leaving them gifts. I remember that feeling so well, being one of five children I never got very much, but i didnt care because I didnt know any different. I love seeing my daughter so excited, it makes all the saving and stressing about money very worth while.
