Snake in the house then the power goes out?

Its rained about a whole week in Bohol then a snake gets into the house around 11:00 pm at night. we about got the snake trapped then the power goes out for 5 hours, then i got go bathroom in middle of night and i let the girls hold the flash light.. anyway get rid of snakes. i seen them throw garlic behind dresser to get snake come out.

Think it found its way out, i went shrimping with a friend other day in a mangrove swamp must had seen about 10 snakes, last time i go shrimping.

FIRST.....the snake wants even less to do with you than you want to do with him. If you leave him alone he will leave you alone.
SECOND There are a lot of myths about snakes including garlic, mothballs and even horse hair ropes but none of them have any basis in fact. Throwing garlic or throwing MM candies are likely to produce the same results
The only way to keep snakes out of your house is to seal the house. Block every hole and crack. I recommend steel wool stuffed in these cracks and holes. Then spray the steel wool with bug spray and it will keep out ants and cockroaches also.
The snake came into the house looking for mice and rats......they go where the food is.....keep your house rodent free and you reduce your chances of having snake visitors.

FINALLY....In Korea many households keep snakes in their garden as pets ( they control rats which have killed millions more people than snakes)........ and there are Korean restaurants that specialize in serving snake

I sympathize with you on the predicament, and find the night episode rather comic.

Never tasted snake before. Heard they taste like chicken. Especially the big ones.

I once was a Tom Sawyer, or a Huckleberry Finn, if you like. Fond of frequenting the river bank near my place, and would sit down with a blade of grass, thinking of nothings idly. And then, I noticed that there was a lump just beside me which I thought was a discarded car tyre. When I looked closer, it was a sleeping river python, wound round itself. Ran the hell out of there, and never frequented that part of the bank again!

Snake senses thermal better and is not likely to be affected by the smell of garlic. You probably either remove the snake forcibly or let it move out itself. If you are not sure how to handle the snake or not sure if it is poisonous, get a pest busting company or the local zoo to help. Even pet shops may be able to help you.

Only remove the snake yourself if you are experienced, otherwise let someone else do it for you. Majority of the snakes are in the poisonous category.

oh, is that so? garlic smells awfull.
in india, they hang tiny bells around their cow's or goat's neck so that the ringing would scare snakes away, they kindda get irritated with that frequency. Some people too, and many can't stand the sound of styrfoam wiped on glasses or the scratching of fingernails or chalks on blackboards
