My boyfriend found a cell phone that appears to have been on a plan. Now, is there a way that he could turn the phone he found into a prepaid phone? Its a verizon phone, and I'm not familiar with how they work. Can anyone help? Thanks

WELL - to all you people that are saying that he should return it - it looks like the phone was lost a loooooooooong time ago because the last phone call that was placed in the phone was in January...so yeah I'm pretty sure that whoever lost the phone isn't missing it...

If the phone has been reported lost or stolen he would not be able to activate it. You can convert any phone to prepay.

I never said he had to return it. I just said if it is reported lost/stolen it can't be activated. It is put on a list with Verizon, and can't be activated. I work in a verizon store in Kansas. We can not take the phone from you. The phone can be converted to prepay easily. As long as it is not on that list you are fine with it.

Cingular phones use SIM cards which with prepaid phones they just open a plan and replace the old SIM card with the newly activated one. Verizon is slightly different because they don't have SIM cards. If the phone is unlocked they should be able to activate a new prepaid account with the phone's serial number

there is in many situations some minimum quantity of minutes coated with the telephone. study the packaging on the telephone and that is going to tell you. as quickly as you run with the aid of that, there are a variety of the thank you to replenish. via a charge card online or purchase of a real-up card at a retail outlet are the main uncomplicated. I also have a strengthen telephone and discover its quite low-priced, considering i do no longer use it plenty, and frequently have it around for emergencies. minutes are good for ninety days, and roll over in case you reBoost earlier the ninety days are up. If i purchase the minimum $20 card each and every 89 days, it finally ends up costing me decrease than $7 a month to have a cellular telephone. the different manufacturers have adjustments in how in many situations you may replenish and how or if the minutes roll over. i'm no longer suggesting strengthen is the main suitable, it merely works nicely for what i want.

Probably. After all, Tracfone (and all the others) are much cheaper than any of the plans (unless you really use the phone a lot!)

You would have to go to Verizon. That's the only vendor that can activate the phone for your use.

just use the plan it is on now, mooch off whoever owned it, then when they cancell it you can buy these cards at safeway for 25$ and get like 725 minutes, for any phone i think.
