The betrayal already happened--and it was the Republicans who betrayed American workers.
PROOF:
>For 12 years (6 unnder Bush) illegals streamed into the country unchecked. The GOP had the powr to enforce the law. They chose not to. They had the power to secure our borders. The Chose not to. They had the power to reform the immigration system. They chose not to.
>Bush (in one of the few sensible things he's done) proposed a conservative immigration reform bill. The GOP blocked it. The Democrats backed it.
>Now--or rather in 2009--we will get a far more liberal reform bill and will get the illegals documented, the bad ones deported, and the flow of immigrants under control.
The right wing won't like the reforms--that's jsut too bad. THEY were the ones who CHOSE to beetray American workers.

You've got to love the fact that when the Republicans were in power, they did squat to deal with the immigration issue, and now are using it as a smokescreen to cover King George's war in the Middle East. The first question you have to ask is "Who's hiring these workers?" I think Katrina's aftermath taught us that it's the fat cats, the wealthys, the "Republican" leaning wealth mongers who are trying to get by cheaply by not only hiring undocumented workers, but voting against a minimum wage, or a living wage, or a reasonable and doable health insurance solution. Let's not follow where their finger leads, as it's only serving to take attention away from 1) who's hiring them 2) the war 3) who's profiting the most from undocumented workers. Then, just like the lemmings you are, you whine about whatever it is they tell you to whine about.

ill answer your question by going back through the anals of history... long, long ago, a group of pale skinned people that were too stupid to bring anything to help them get food (because they sweetly thought the native americans would be willing to act as their slaves and bring them food) arrived on american soil. these people were the first immigrants from europe that wanted to stay. in fact, they soon decided, they didn't just want to stay; they wanted to conquer. so they promptly set about massacaring and harrasing native americans, and when the native americans mostly died out, they set about massacring and harrasing other immigrants, claiming immigrants would ruin "their" country. however, these immigrants were quite different from the original immigrants from europe in that they: a) were willing to work, even work disgusting, low-paying jobs and b) they did not try to masscare and rule the people who were "there first." in fact, these immigrants were (and are) a boon to the country, doing the jobs lazy boys and girls don't want to do, thus feuling the american economy of junk food/video games for said lazy, generally obese teens. so yes, illegals are more important than the average worker who wouldn't even want to do the jobs illegals do anyways. this is a roundabout way of answering your question, but i hope i cleared it up for you.

Because to the Democrats, an illegal alien picking lettuce in a field in California is a possible vote in their favor, as long as they lie to them, promising amnesty and free health care. Is easier to promise an illegal alien free health care and free citizenship than to try and convince a hard working American that higher taxes is better for the economy and that Illegals are the best thing since sliced bread.

It's the "question of the day" so to speak. It isn't the Dems only, the Repugnicans are in on it too. Your not paying attention if you think there's a difference between the Demicraps and the Repugnicans.

I'm afraid you have it backwards. Republicans take "free trade" as party policy. Those Democrats who want to get blue collar and union votes are standing up for US workers.
Biden and Edwards are the strongest supporters of the middle class.

They will be registered to vote because the illegal aliens will be happy to go on welfare, which was a Democratic free bee. So, they figure it will ad about eleven million aliens to the Democratic voters.

Because they love Mexican food and cheap labor. After all who else are we going to get to fix our roofs for a cheap price after hurricanes or to clean our hotel rooms. Or in the case of rich politicians clean their house and be a nanny to their children
