They Both won american Idol, Carrie wins every award, but I think in the end Kelly will be the biggest star, she's the orginal AI she may not win every award but I think Carrie is getting her 15 minutes of fame... Kelly is following in Reba's footsteps who's with me!! I love both of them but lets face it Kelly is huge!! Amazing and a mini Reba!!

I love both. I love each for different reasons.
Kelly is the first, and no one can ever top her. She is our American Idol "pop" star.
Carrie took the country route, and she can surpass Kelly, but only in Country music.

I watch American Idol and I loved Carrie from the beginning and was rooting for her. I think she will remain big for a long time if she keeps making music like she is now. I've never been too big of a Kellie fan, also she's not the smartest person I've seen. And FYI, Kellie did not win American Idol.
OK upon further review, i realize you were maybe talking about Clarkson. I assumed because you asked this in the country category you were talking about Pickler. I love Kelly Clarkson, but i really don't think you can compare her and Underwood fairly. Kelly has been pop since she came out and has only done one country song, the one with Reba. Also that song was originally a song she wrote and released as a pop hit. Underwood has always been country and even when she was on idol she would lean more toward countrylike songs when she picked them. So it's hard to compare the two unless Clarkson goes full out country, but I really don't see that happen in the near future, but hey you never know.

Those of us who love classic country will say that neither one of these girls is the real thing.., that today's country sucks and has no heart, is more pop and rock than anything..that it's all about the looks and not the music, that it does nothing but repeat the same damn phrase over, and over and over, and over,( my biggest pet peave about it.).
For the most part this is true... BUT!!!!! Some of these kids do have some talent, mostly looks, but some talent and heart..
Some of them have actually turned out some decent stuff like Kellie Pickler---brain fart,--- I'll be gone to Tennessee
Carrie Underwood--Jesus take the wheel
Braid Paisley---When I get where I'm goin'
and many others...
I think we Might be a little too hard on these new kids sometimes... The few songs mentioned already are pretty decent and I would buy the Singles...
But for the most part like the other lovers of real country music, today's country Does suck...really, really, Really bad!!!!
Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler are both decent and do have the talent. If they, and others, can channel that talent into real country music like the oldies did. things will be fine and people will buy either one of 'ems cds....They need to pick up some instrumental talent and not just rely on their looks and what voice they have... Brad Paisley is actually doing this exact thing a little bit..
As for who is better, neither one.. But Pickler, if she pays attention and goes with learning and growing, has a better chance of being the next Reba...
I Had to answer..They do have some little talent and fair is fair, even though most of today's country really does suck..

Only difference is that country singers on average seem to hang around longer than pop stars..Not many pop stars keep singing and making number #1's on the pop chart at a later age as the country stars do (unless they are with a band).How many pop stars do you see that are still singing solo in their 60s..not too many ,but yet with country they do..I think Carrie might last longer but head to head Kelly has the best voice.

I tend to like both for very different reasons.
Kelli has such emotion when she is singing I Wonder I admire the ability that she has
Carrie I did not care for as much when she first came out as I thought she came across as a goodie two shoes. Now I have changed my mind. Anyway I think both are a star in her own right.
