If my original tires are 235/75R17 will 265/70R17 fit on that rim?

Yes they will, your speedometer may be off a little due to the fact that the 265's are bigger!

What most of these people giving you answers don't realize is the 'series' of the tire the 70 or 75 is a percentage of the width, the 235 and 265 is the width. Im not sure why everyone, even car guys gets this so mixed up

Fitment depends on the car. Plain and simple. The 265s will be wider and taller in size. call www.tirerack.com and talk to a specialist. they have a complete list of what does and doesnt fit on each production car.

It depends how wide your rims are, you didn't say. With a fairly high profile tyre such as the ones you've mentioned I'd think you could get this tyre on an 8" rim anything less and it might be a bit floppy, the tyre needs to be stretched on the rim if it isnt it might come off on hard cornering.

It fill fit on the rim, however, it will be wider than the original, so you need to make sure it doesn't rub when the wheel is turned to either side.

Yes. The second tires have a lower profile, but a wider tread, so you might encounter difficulty on sharp turns, but it's such a small difference, I'm going to guess that you won't.
