The Nightmare Before Christmas. An all around beautiful movie!

Romeo & Juliet (1968)

I have lost count of how many times I have watched this film in the nearly 40 years it has remained at the top of my favorites list. This was love at first viewing in a movie theater in my teen years. When it was held over, I ended up seeing it at least 10 times, which was truly unusual in the Sixties. "2001" would change moviegoers' habits, so my revisits to "Romeo & Juliet" were proof of my devotion to the film. I added more viewings when it was re-released, and the theater manager rewarded me with the poster, lobbycards and pressbook!

Later, I bought a CD player~for the early movie disks, not the music disks~and purchased "Romeo & Juliet" as soon as I could afford it. Later, I would have a VCR to tape it, meaning that I have seen it more than 100 times.

I believe this is one of the most perfect films ever made~the acting, directing, music, costumes, cinematography, settings, and all the rest. Much of it looks as if tapestries have been brought to life. The colors are jewellike, and the surroundings are vibrant. Director Franco Zefferelli selected sites that included a medieval-era mountain town. The balcony setting is perfect.

Leonard Whiting (Romeo) was my first crush, and he still makes me *sigh*. I think all of the girls around my age felt the same way, and most of the guys at school thought that Olivia Hussey (Juliet) was the perfect girl.

I can't imagine ever falling out of love with this movie or ever seeing it too many times.

Since others are listing more than one film, I certainly will!

2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

I saw this when it first came out in 1968 at the Boston Cinerama with a wrap around screen (before the advent of Omni theater) and this movie was about 15 years ahead of its time. 2001 blew everybody's mind.

Um for me I have two. I really like Pearl Harbor. It makes me cry every single time I watch it. It really makes you think. I like how much history they put in. WWII has always fasenated me. The other movie would have to be The Notebook. I cry harder during that movie. I guess I am a am crazy for the love stories.
