They may. At about an inch long, they're probably less than a year old, and many fry take longer than others to develop the adult colors (that all start out relatively colorless, then change to a bronze/brown "wild" color for a while). Some keep that color all their lives, but others change into more "typical" goldfish colors.

A young goldfish will be silvery or a silvery with a greenish sheen.

In the wild, goldfish are like this to begin with so that they aren't as easy to spot so that they don't get eaten by larger fish.

When they get big enough, they will change to their goldish color.

Young goldfish that are gold are that way because natural selection would make sure that those fish are eaten first so that their "turn gold early" genes don't get passed on so that goldfish will survive through future generations.

However, goldfish are being massproduced and inbred, etc so that natural selection doesn't work anymore.

The young gold colored fish aren't any different besides the color. It's just that in the wild, the gold ones wouldn't survive.

eating regimen and absence of sunlight are the possibly the explanation. I doubt previous-age is it as Goldfish can stay an somewhat long term. The suggestion of blood worms is a impressive one. additionally, attempt mixing up the eating regimen some. attempt tropical fish flakes that are for shade (little or no), cooked peas (in basic terms the in the pea) or perhaps Beta flakes (returned, little or no). For the sunlight, possibly replace out the bulb over your bowl or tank for a complete mild spectrum one that mimics sunlight. this would help! good good fortune!

Some goldfish just stay silver for the rest of their lives. It's in their genetics.
