From the air. There is water in the air and the water is in the form of gas. When the water hits the cold cup, the water changes to its liquid form.

The air. It is full of moisture. Steam is when moisture in air is so concentrated that it is visible. When warm air contacts a cold cup water condenses on the cup. Rain forms when moisture in the air condenses on dust particles.

Listen to the weather channel. If the air is warm and humid it is attracted to a lower colder situation. A glass of ice water gets the moisture on the outside from the water (humidity) in the air
