4.i believe it to be positive for the world for becoming more like us. but negative in forcing countries beliefs to be more similar to ours, and negative on our governments spending to where it could be spent better for making our country more successful.
5. yes it is called our war on terror
6.false, there was a large gap from where the fear of communism in russia deploying its nuclear weapons on us to when 9.11 happened where we began to fear for our lives. and it is a lessor fear. in the communist fear we feared for the whole human species to be eliminated. in the fear of religious extermist it is just of an attack in a densely populated location most likely.
7.im going with false, berlin was divided by a wall which divided the seperated countries. i am not aware of jerusalem, but i am guessing it is seperated by its religious views where it is dangerous to travel out of your area.

9. false, in vietnam we were fighting againt another government in support of a government we chose to assist. in iraq and afghanistan we are trying to have the country choose. although i'm not sure on this, i believe we are not attempting this in afghanistan but only in iraq. to fight of extremist that want control of their own country to rule by fear.

I remember soon after 9/11/2001 President Bush made a speech and emphasized this war on Terror was against "Violent Extremeists". Many Muslim theologians stated they were against the Suicide Attacks of 9/11. Osama Bin Laden wants to create a state of terror.

7. Berlin was divided after the second world war into a "free sector" and a "Russian sector". It kind of symbolized the cold war that was going on and it was a flash point between the "combatants." Berlin has come back the democratic west when the wall was torn down. Now Jerusalem is kind of divided between Israeli and Palestinian sides. Its the new "Berlin", the new symbol of the dividing line between the free west and the religious zealots of the Arab world. Israel runs a fence, I'm not sure its right in Jerusalem, but it separates the Arabs into their own closed little world. There are checkpoints and gated crossings. I think its very similar to Berlin.

It sounds like your prof is a loony lefty, comparing Berlin and Jerusalem for one thing. His guiding light is a philosophical fallacy called "moral equivalence." He shouldn't be teaching at any level. Give me an hour with this feeble-minded jerk and I'll have him weeping and tearing out pages of your textbook with his teeth.
