Personally if she is getting mad at little things like that she needs to do more in her life.
I would not expect my husband to stop doing anything .
Just like he would not expect me to do so either.
Its her friend.
You were doing something for the family and she should see that and apologize for being rude to you.

You say you love this man. He is your best friend. You talked or saw each other almost everyday. Now, what do you think he has been doing with his wife for 25 years. Do you think he didn't talk or see her on a regular basis? How do you think their relationship started? Please note she not the reason that he was investigated, demoted, had a 30 day leave. This is the same women that was probably there when he first started his career, helped him get to were he is today. This is also the woman that had his children. In 25 years you can create a bond that can stand the test of time. (you have some very nasty waves in marriages - you were a wave in theirs) Do you still have to wonder why she would take him back? Because she is his wife of 25 years and that is her choice.

So she wants you to do the house work and you do. She does not want you to do this in front of others because this seems like she does less and you are not a real man. If she makes a lot more money than you do, play her game. If you make the money then you need to make some changes in your life unless this is just some fetish that get you two going.

Yes. I do. When guests are in your house, they are the guests of both of you, not just your wife. And another thing, you aren't hired help, you shouldn't be scurrying around doing the housework while your spouse is reading the paper. A married couple is a team!

I don't understand why women always want their husbands to chit-chat, too. If mine sits down, that's fine, but I don't expect him to. Sometimes it's nice having 1 on 1 time with a friend. Your wife sounds like a bully.

You can share housework because it works for your family, but not because your wife has a stronger personality than you. And did you actually say your wife scolded you for not sitting with them? (I get it; you're making a satirical point with this sardonic tale...nicely done. No one could possibly be that whipped in real life).

Good God man, make your wife get up off her lazy **** & help out around the house. You are not her damn maid. I don't care if she is the stronger personality in the house. I am in our house & I do all the house work, my husband will help when I ask him. Grow some balls & tell her you are not there to entertain her friends, her friends are there to see her not you, you are not her house slave either.

You both live there, right? You both un-make the bed, use the dishes, clutter up the house so you should BOTH clean it. Jeez! You can't possibly tell me your wife expects all this and then dictates your social actions!
In my house we both share in responsibilities and I wouldn't even expect my husband to sit and listen to me and my friends babble on and gossip. lol

No, I think that your behavior was fine since you are getting your house ready for the holiday. You are not required to socialize with your wife and her friend.
