That is hardly the point.
That "torture" isn't used on U.S. citizens.
We are at war.
We must defend innocent people from those who wish to MURDER for ridiculous fanatical reasons.
Apply RULES to the conduct of terrorists. When they comply with those rules, we will respond by complying with standards of similar nature.
Anything short of that process, and all deaths caused by NOT obtaining the information needed to defend innocent people will be on YOUR hands.

What is waterboarding? I guess I will google it and see for myself. I hate to think that we have to resort to any form of brutality, but unfortunately in the real world evil exist, and maybe the only way to get imformation from the devil is to make him squirm. Will there ever be a time when all men will be at peace? Nope! not until we face eternity. Differences in faith, culture, appearance, intelligence, greed, .... the list goes on- these differences lead many that are weak to kill or hurt others.

How about turning the question around and asking, "Why not use psychological, non-torture police techniques at gaining a confession from suspected terrorists?"
