I'm sure teachers get tired of the same old candles and "teacher" gifts. What is something that is useful for a teacher?

Card with a note saying specifically what the teacher is doing that you find so beneficial. Costs very little but oh does it say so much, and the info is very useful. I appreciate these kinds of gifts the most since by December I am usually in desperate need of kind words about the job I'm doing.
If you want the teacher to associate your gift with you long after the holidays, make sure your gift is unique.

I've been a teacher for 13 years. Gifts are always appreciated, but some more than others. Mugs, etc. that say "teacher" are overgifted, but sweet. My favorite present ever was a gift card to a movie theater. Also- once, I got a gift card for a massage. If there's something she needs for the room, that's nice too, if she really needs it. For example, if the pencil sharpener just broke, get a new electric pencil sharpener. Hope this helps.

No knickknacks, stuffed animals, food. The animals and things end up sitting around, and how many teacher do you know that could stand to lose a few pounds:) (we don't need any more food). Gift cards are the best. Also, I once had a mom have me fill out a questionnaire about my favorite colors, flower, store, etc... Then she bought me a scarf in my favorite color, gave me my favorite flowers, and got me a gift certificate from my favorite store. She worked my favorite things into gifts all throughout the year.

Well maybe, you should get your teacher chocolate, or a little bear, or something like that. I also know how teachers get tired of those candles.

My favorite gifts over the years have been a teacher tote bag with my name stitched in it & a gift card to a resturant.

A desk caddy filled with supplies that a teacher usually has to pay for out of their own pocket. Fill it with pencils, pens (with different ink colors), sticky note paper, paper clips, rubberbands, small pair of safety scissors, ruler, well, you get the idea. I guarantee it's a gift that will be used and appreciated. Oh, and add a few christmas mint candies for her to enjoy.

I got my teacher one of those pointers. It was easier for her to pick up the pointer and use it since she was an older woman. She used it ALL the time! For myself, I had a student who made a bracelet for me. I also had another student make me a pin to put on my sweater or jacket.
