I have a basement stucco project so i went to home depot for some metal lathe. Next to it they had plastic lathe that they claim was just as good but cheaper. Anyone every use it? Know anything about it? TY

I doubt the plastic lath is as strong as the metal one. I am sure it is cheaper but that is all it has going for it. Considering the lath will be up there for years and the stucco will be attached only by the lath, if it were me I would spend the money for the metal one.

You want the metal one, it is more durable and less likely to break so easily. Too, if you plan to dabble in wood as well as metal lathing, you can get a metal lathe that will accomodate both as opposed to a wood lathe that will only do wood.

As those above have said, you do not decide to become a gunsmith, and start in business the same day! You are going to need training by a qualified gunsmith, or an engineer with an interest in guns at the very least, guns are after all machines. In my case, it was 5 years as an apprentice, working for pennies, followed by one year as an improver (journeyman) and even then a gunsmith would not employ you, unless you were exceptional at your trade. It's a long, hard slog, best of luck to you.
