Major credit card companies are censoring websites that show pictures of underage girls in bikinis. You can see that at any swimming pool. People will pay to look at pictures, but the credit card companies are acting as censors. It's almost impossible to do business on the Internet without accepting credit cards. How did credit card companies get to be our moral guardians?

Is the question about the government, the pope, or credit card companies?

Citizens choose representatives to create laws by which they want their country to live, for example, to protect children from being victimized by pornography. This is how a representative democracy works.

Credit card companies are regulated by these laws. By law, if they do not monitor what their cards are being used for then the government will fine them or send their executives to jail.

One problem with pornography is where to draw the line on what is pornographic. Credit card companies will naturally be conservative in drawing the line and not risk penalties for breaking the law.

The Catholic Church and the Pope teach:

Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties.

Catholics believe that pornography offends against chastity because it perverts the intimate giving of spouses to each other.

It does grave injury to the human dignity of all participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others.

It is even worse when children are victimized.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 2354: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art6.htm#2354

With love in Christ.

Short answer, if you don't like their actions, don't do business with them. They're allowed to take any actions they wish to, and if you're really that hard up to see teenage girls in bikinis, perhaps you should move to a beach area.

your right. I think censoring things should not be allowed since everyone will see that stuff sometime if there life. Violence I think they need to cut down on.

Finally a company is concerned with ethics. It looks like you'll have to find your smut someplace else.
