Semen causes 'numbing' sensation?

My girlfriend claims that after oral sex, her tongue and inside of her mouth has a 'numb' feel to it. Nothing extreme, just mild. I have heard this before from other people too..

Why does this occur and what causes it? Is it anything to be worried about?

It is only after I orgasm, so it's not from her actually giving oral. A lot of times, she will only use her mouth to "catch the mess" anyway.

That's a new on me. I would think however if the numbing sensation is short lived and she experiences no ill effects then you two are fine.
