I was wondering,
If a ambassador was in a foreign country, and that country has declared war on his own; what happens to the ambassador? Is he declared a POW, or technically the building that he is in is on a piece of land belonging to his own country. If so, would he be asked to go back to his own country? Or does he stay to be the middleman for the two nations?

Most of the time a good sign a war is about to break out is that a nation will recall all of its embessy staff from a certain nation.

Hopefully the ambassador is returned home along with the staff.....before the declaring nation takes action....otherwise he may be executed . or imprisoned as the country deems fit to .
