Many people use false accusations and questions with no basis to smear an opposing idea, person, or group.
Does this tactic make them a liar, and how can they be held accountable?

I would think a lie would be saying something you KNOW is false. So it would not be a lie. It would be stupid people voicing their opinions in the form of a question or accusation.

Of course, in the scientific field, an educated guess is still a guess, so I suppose an unsupported comment is still a lie.

Politically or personally? While both are definitely an attempt to deceive, it seems that it is more accepted in politics. It shouldn't be, but it is.....by both parties- and they should be ashamed.

of course...it's manufacturing something out of nothing...it is formed to do damage...there are laws against defaming someone. You can sue someone for defaming you
