I've worked at both Best Buy and Circuit city. Often people start camping at midnight, 1am and 2am. First it absolutely depends on what you are looking for. If you are aiming for that $200 laptop, you need to be one of the first 5 people in line. The most they ever have of the hot must have items are range between 5-15. They often have the numbers of items printed in the ads.

Consider the availability of an item and come according to the chances of you being able to get that item before they run out.

I am so glad I don't work in either of those places anymore.

I made the mistake of going shopping with either my sister or my mother one year on Black Friday at a local Wal-mart and we arrived a little before the store was to open. At that time there was already a major line and we ended up better than halfway between the doors and the end of the building. Took us half an hour after the doors opened just to finally get inside.

So you're going to want to go early. Figure at least a minimum of two hours before.

It depend what you are wanting to buy. If it is a high sale item with an incredible price and they will only have a few of them you will need to camp overnight. I did it 2 years ago and I arrived at 10pm and there were already about 30 people there. If it's just for random things there is no way to get around it being packed. when the doors because soooo many people do camp out for the great buys.
Happy shopping

It depends, having worked for circuit city, we use the ploy of have having blockbuster sales on specific items. Only problem is that there usually is only one or two of the item. They do it to get you in and make you spend money while you are there. IF you really want to get the special, I would get there between 4 and 430.

What time you get to the store depends on where you live. For example, I live in Minnesota. If it's cold outside (in the teens and 20's), people will line up at 10pm. If it's warm (above 30 degrees), peple usually start lining up at 6pm. By 5am when the store opens, there are already hundreds of people in line. Forget about getting a laptop, desktop, or TV if you are not in the top 100 people in line. I will drive by the Best Buy near my home on Thanksgiving starting at 4pm to check on the line. I will drive by every 1.5 hours until I see people start lining up. That's when I haul *** to the parking lot (with my winter gear and sleeping bag) and camp out. I have always recieved the items on my list.

Oh, please! Don't waste your time unless you absolutely have to save money on an item you will probably not be buying for yourself. Enjoy life -- sleep in on Friday! Watch the sales and you'll get a pretty good deal and a lot less grief. Happy Thanksgiving!
