(2x+y= -8)4

3x-4y=-12
8x+4y= -32

11x= -44
x=-4

plug x into one of the problems

2(-4)+y=-8

you can solve it by multipling the second equation by 4 to eliminate the y variable
then you add the two equations:
3x-4y=-12
+ 8x+4y=-32
the y variable is eliminated because -4y+4y=0
so, you have 11x=-44
divide by 11 to get x=-4
plug in -4 for x in one of the original equations:
3(-4)-4y=-12
-12-4y=-12
-4y=0
y=0

3x - 4y = - 12
8x + 4y = - 32---------ADD

11x = - 44
x = - 4

- 8 + y = - 8
y = 0

x = - 4 , y = 0
