Yes I like greenery in front of a house but you shouldn't block the view of windows and doors from the street for security reasons. So those passing by will see if some one is trying to break in. All shrubs etc should not be more than 18" tall in front of windows.

Yes. But when I lived in Texas, I had a small "desert" in the front yard and thought it was pretty neat too.

I like it, but I hate the bushes that my apartment complex has in front of my townhouse. They're those old evergreen-type bushes that you can't cut much off of. I like small shrubs and they can't be higher than the windowsill.
