Not that I am a man, My husband seldom gets up during the night to go to the bathroom, although my dad just turned 70 and he has been getting up about every 2-3 hours to go pee for the last 10 years. The doctor said to just keep his yearly check-ups/exams, and that it is normal. The older you get, your bladder is not as strong, so the more often you get up and go to the bathroom. Sometimes this can be a sign of prostate trouble, or even diabetes. Sorry to give an answer from a woman. Haw, Haw..

Usually have an enlarged prostate after 50. But I know it can be earlier. If you have trouble starting your stream then it is a good possibility you have an enlarged prostate. A bladder infection can cause you to get up in the middle of the night. Your PD will prefer you to see the Urologist for tests. You have an untra-sound and will look for signs.

Never and I am 54. I also drink a liter of water just before bed as I am in a desert environment. If you're concerned it's best to get it checked.

I was beginning to get up in the middle of the night quite frequently...and it concerned me. After a myriad of basic tests I found out I had type II diabetes.

Since then, I have cut my sugar consumption drastically and POOF!!!...no more getting up.

usually twice---once to get a drink of water, once to get rid of it (pee); mostly though, I sleep through the night.
