So we consider sugar as sucrose which has the chemical formula C12H22O11:
C12H22O11 + 12O2 ==> 12CO2 + 11H2O
where O2 is the gas which causes a glowing splint to burst into flames, and:
CO2 is the gas which turns limewater milky:
CO2 + Ca(OH)2 ==> CaCO3 + H2O

2Na + 2H2O ==> 2NaOH + H2

CH4 + 2O2 ==> CO2 + 2H2O
