This is getting ridiculous! Or has it always been this ridiculous? Congress members get more days off in a year for holiday's than I will get in a lifetime! Why is this even allowed? I work full-time 5 days a week and part-time 6 days a week. Does congress even come close to this? Even if they did that is still no reason for this criminal waste of time, our country is in trouble and these as*holes are laughing and relaxing in their million dollar homes. A law needs to be passed that would change members salaries to equal those in the poor-middleclass brackets, this money could be better spend just about anywhere but here. How can we the people get a law like this passed? And back to the holiday's, I would say Congress should get the same amount of days off as USPS postal workers get, this seems fair. Its so obvious that being in Congress is more of a career and profit thing, then it is a working for the people thing. Other than violence. What can be done here? This has gone on too long

They do a part time job, for full time and in most cases, lifetime pay.

You also forgot their month off in the summer, Christmas/New Year shutdown too.

They don't work as much as schoolteachers who only work around 180 days a year.

Wish I had it so good.

He** yea!!!!

I think we all need to get up off our butts and vote this year! Hopefully it will be for the right candidate! Like the saying goes "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer". I don't know what the real answer is but I really think the people meaning us- need to vote and make calls to our senators and get a lot more involved than we do. If we don't then we have no right to complain! Why not take advantage of our rights as American citizens?

No, congress doesn't take enough time off, nor does the pres. We need to go back to the early days before the professional politician, were members of congress were business owners and had to go home to run their business, and only served one or two terms, then went home.

Yes it's too much time off. You do know that Nancy Pelosi has either changed or is trying to change their work week to 4 days, right? Why don't we, the people have a say in this?

Yes. And because of it Americans are going to pay higher taxes next year. Democrats couldn't create a simple one page tax bill that would fix a problem with tax law.

"The Democrat led congress can't even fix the little problem of the looming AMT tax law problem. Instead, of creating a simple bill to help families avoid a new tax, the Democrat congress is planning to approve a massive bill that will increase taxes.
The Democrats even disingenuously labelled the bill a "Tax Reform" bill.
Democrats also use "reform" when talking about immigration. Their latest "immigration reform" plan is to offer citizenship and welfare to each and every illegal immgrant in the U.S.. At the same time Democrats are against more border enforcement."

Good luck getting Congress to give themselves a pay cut. It's simply not going to happen.

Don't get me wrong: I fully agree with you on principle, but It's just not something your or I can control.

I wonder when they are going to come up with a war-time tax to pay for the PNAC Iraq invasion? It is probably only fair that the chicken hawks like Rush pay their share for this as they were the main cheerleaders.

What can be done? How about everyone stop paying taxes until this situation is rectified! How's that for a pay cut.

no...they need time to return home and hear from their constituents...the president has no such responsibility but seems to vacation quite a bit more than they do
