Al Greenspan has ALL his investments in Euros! Smart guy ,huh? No wonder he was in charge for sooooooooo long! It's just Reagans "trickle down" theory of economics. Kinda warm and yellow!

The US dollar is weak relative to other currencies in the world right now but it is not worthless. It's still perfectly good for purchasing things at your local store. The fact that the dollar is weak probably shouldn't concern the average American unless you are planning a trip overseas or wish to purchase something from overseas (and even then there is very little you can do about it).
Also, it has to do with economic conditions, not that other countries are mad at George Bush's foreign policy.

This currency has been up and down before but remember our value to the world is more than our money. The rest of the world still looks to US to keep things under control. If more Americans build up this country and tried a little to give instead of condemn it and put it down life could be better for all. Dwelling on negatives is a specialty of the liberals that lack vision and answers to the problems of today. Being negative about life only generates depression and inactivity. Start each day with something positive and You will find life is much better than you thought.

Yes the greenback is at all time lows compared to many other currencies. But what do you care? You get paid in US dollars and spend in US dollars so why care what a US buck is compared to other currencies except when you travel. So ... stay in US and visit some other states instead of going to Europe, Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean. Besides a low greenback is good for your trade deficit, lower dollars make it cheaper for others to buy your goods and discourage buying non US products. You guys will be okay down there and who knows in ten years your currency may be top banana again.

I just got back from several countries and it appeared that the locals preferred U.S. Dollars over Canada Dollars or the local currency. I am basing this on the fact that whenever I engaged in a transaction where I offered to pay in $US, they wanted to give me change in local currency or $Canadian, and if I insisted on change in $US and they said no, they were VERY disappointed when I switched to giving then Canada or local money.
Glad you asked, I just got back a few hours ago, your question really made me laugh a lot. I purposely took a lot of Canadian Dollars and made sure to always have a wad of local currency and U.S. Dollars, so I could gage their reaction to the final method of payment (Oh and by the way, barrels of oil are still priced in US DOLLARS).

Don't believe the hype, the US Dollar is still strong. The only ones who are claiming it is weak are the ones who cannot use them due to economic sanctions (N. Korea, Iran, etc). Funny, the most counterfeited currency in the world is US, so, don't you find it a little too coincidental that as we make our currency harder to counterfeit, suddenly everyone is trying to say it' s worthless and they want to switch to another currency?

haha this is the funniest question i have read today. take an econ course or two. as an econ major let me tell you some of the benefits of a weak dollar......i am sure that you don't know that we get a LOT of jobs from Europe....the jobs they OUTSOURCE to us. US just doesn't outsource all the time....other countries outsource to US. a weaker dollar means that its cheaper for them to outsource to us. a good example is the European IT market which is outsourced to US.
even countries like INDIA are OUTSOURCING to US....here is a good article for you to read that you will never hear it mentioned on CNN or CBS.

first the hippies cry about jobs going overseas and now they cry about weaker dollar.....how do you expect US to compete with China who ARTIFICIALLY holds their currency LOW so they get more investors.
