I heard from another employee yesterday and today that my manager is talking s*** behind my back. My MANAGER! Can you believe that? I have worked in many places and have never heard of a manager being so immature. Anyway, I went up to her and asked her why she was talking about me behind my back and she denied it (of course), and then said she asked me to do stuff and I told her no. I have never told her no, I once told her that I was still working on something else and I would get to it if I could but I always do what she tells me. So the argument went on and she sent me home (by the way she argued with me in front of a customer, very unproffesional). I know she can't fire me because there is another manager above her but I know that she will get ahold of the general manager before I do and my side of the story may never be told. Can they fire me because I asked my manager why she talked about me behind my back? I work tommorow, what should I do?

keep your cool if you want to keep your job. Learn to keep personal stuff -personal. If you were sent home, it sounds like she may have a case against you.

Trevor, what are you her brother? A manager should never talk about someone behind their back. I think you need to go into work tommorow and talk to the general manager. Be the bigger person and just tell the truth. In the end, no matter what happens, you will be the better person for being honest. Good Luck, and remember that it is just a job and it sounds like you deserve a better one.

Hey,
I know this may not be the answer you are looking for, its will not make you feel better about how you reacted but in te business world it is truthful,
Anytime you hear something like that...... please just work harder at being the best at what ever job you have. If your a garbage collector be the best most professional, if your a doctor or what ever learn all there is to learn and if you don't enjoy your work..... please ..... find something you do like.
In the work place you will always meet people like the one you mentioned,,, try not to become that person. In short always overlook the little things and if it a problem you must talk to them about......Chose your Time. Have in mind what you will say and how to close the subject. Its not weak to ask where you are making mistakes and how you can improve.
I know what your saying but when your growing don't stunt your growth.
Good Luck Best Wishes

How can you be so certain that the "other employee" was being straight up with you? Maybe it was an advantage for this other employee to start a riff between you and your manager. Work places can get very political. If this is your first experience with that, get used to it, consider the source, and keep your cool in the future!

Record your side of the story now on paper so tomorrow if you're asked about it you can have what happened documented. I doubt you'd be fired for this.
But in the future, maybe you shouldn't concern yourself with the stupid bureaucracy that plagues the workplace. I mean, your manager talked crap on you... oh well. You know you are a good employee and you do a good job. Screw her.
