the Vandals came from east Germany area.
So why did they go conquering northern africa?
why did they need a "homeland" there?
wasn't east Germany their homeland?

Part of the reason that they did not remain in Eastern Europe was that they were being pushed out by the Goths. Since they were on the move, the continued to look for a place to settle down while raiding along the way. They crossed the Rhine River into Gaul around 400AD. A few years they entered into today's Spain and were given some land by the Roman Empire. Yet, they did not settle down there as well. The major reason they settled in North Africa, was because they Roman Empire was to weak to challenge them there, and it also served as a base for pirate raids in the Meditteranean Sea.
