If perchance China were to loose its Communist shackles and become a democracy it would be the world's largest democracy.

This would put the US in second place causing it to loose its influence around the world.

It doesn't really matter what form of government it has, the issue is their economic power which is quickly eclipsing ours.

The United States does not want China to become a Democracy anymore than we want Hamas to win by Democratic means in the Palestine. At the moment, we are a Democracy only in Name. Bush talks Democracy but calls anyone who disagrees with him at least an obstructionist if not a traitor.
And, if Bush had not been so bad at his job, America would still be run by a group of political thugs who hide behind Democratic slogans while a small group of people ran the Country from Corporation Boards and rich energy companies.
That is why we are in the mess of the Iraq War. Only a bunch of blind fools would get us in the position we are in at the moment with the World. Bush is a dangerious man/boy and Cheney is a dark cloud hanging over America.
Do we currently want China to be a Democracy, no, we want to tell everyone including China how they should act in the World!
