my mini did that b/c i used it non-stop for about a year, just get a new battery, they arent meant to last forever, but from what i've been told its just more worth it to buy a new one for what you will pay for a battery you might as well pay a little more and have newer technology.

You can replace the battery but this process can be quite expensive, so if you're looking into that then you might as well buy a new ipod. But to answer your question I have an older ipod as well and they're actually made a lot better than the new ones because in the new ones they try to cram too much software and memory into such a small space and it just results in a shorter life for the ipod. Anyways your ipod's battery life is probably not very long because you've overcharged it in the past (left it charging overnight, etc).

The batteries are not so good in the old ipods, my one went the same way, discharging in a couple of hours even when i wasnt using it. you can get it replaced by apple, but probably better off getting a new one

Yes it sounds like the battery.
I think you should call Apple. They will take it back and replace the battery. In some cases, if you have a faulty model they will do it for free.
complaining to them should get you some free replacement.
Good Luck :)

The battery is old. When you've been charging it a lot over a year the battery becomes less powerful then it was when you bought it.

It's probably just because it's really old. The battery wasn't meant to last forever. You could probably get it replaced but you'd be better off buying a new mp3 player

Trying charging it for the whole day.
Or maybe the battery is old, just send it into Apple and they will replace it. Or you can bring it to your nearest Apple store.

Its the battery.
Many rechargable batteries tend to lose their charge quicker as they get older.
You may want to get that battery replaced or buy a new iPod...

when you first got it you didn't allow the battery to fully expire before you charged it like all batteries it created a memory so it may say its fully charged but it only charged to a certain point so you need a new lithuim battery thats all take it to apple to be replaced
