probably the first u.s. election if they had one.but ultimately it was the winning of the revolutionary war.they wanted to make general george washington king george washington after that but he politly turn it down saying he didn't want to be another king george,the guy they fought the revolutionary war against.

so the people might have made him president without elections ,good question.
