Borg. If you were a tennis player in the '70s and you could be any player it would have been Borg
Borg was legendary even while he was playing. Unflappable on the court and almost unbeatable for 5 years. The guy defined the term "tennis at a different level".
Connors was the Howard Cosell of tennis. You either loved him or hated him. But even his fans knew he crossed the line several times on and off the court. His reputation has been enhanced as the years have worn on and he's mellowed. Borg's on the other hand, has diminished because his personal problems became public as well as a failed comeback.

Borg.
Connors is too much of a loudmouth that only played when something was in it for him...typically money. Borg loved the game and was quiet about it. Besides, winning the French and then Wimbledon in the same year 4 or 5 times is quite impressive.

Connors was more intresting to watch IMO.He let you feel every emotion he had on the court. He competed on the ATP tour for 10 years after Borg retired, and Connors was 7 years older.I was never a fan of Borgs looping, topspin moonball shots either.

Borg. The reason is, Borg retired at age of 26 with 11grand slam titles, but Connors retired at age of 39 with only 8.

Borg was an artist just like Federer is this generation's artist.
Connors was a lefty s/v player whose game had nothing special about it.
he was not all court and certainly not ALL surface player like Borg.
Connors had the me against the world attitude on court and was very obnoxious on the court the same way his charge Roddick is is.
Borg>>>>>>>>>>Connors

Borg.
i think Borg boosted the sports image in that era. everybody had the tight $100 fila jacket, stripe shirt and headband. he made tennis "glamorous", high class.
he beat 95% of the players in his haydays.
