OHHH hi!! congratulations first of all!
lol! i got mine a month before i turned fourteen, got it on the airplane, sucks!
hey dont be scared! i was scared at first too! just make sure that you change pads about 3-4 times a day, keep it clean. take a shower everyday, use overnight pad if too heavy.
If you are using tampons..im not sure, i prefer pads tho
Of course ur bleeding in a period? Ur endometrium sheds in ur uterus..u bleed about 3-7 days usually. You can start off light, maybe only 3 days, or you can start with heavy periods, like 10 days periods.
THOSE ARE NORMAL.
ur first few periods can be really irregular, don't worry. Wear a pantyliner!
good luck!

Well I'm 14 and have had my period since I was 9.
Theres nothing to be afraid about.
Just make sure to change your pad 3-4 times a day or I like to change it every 4 or 5 hours since mine can get pretty heavy.
It usually lasts from 3 days or maybe a little more than a week, which is normal.
You also get cramps which do hurt. Just take some tylenol or advil or something. I like to use Midol. They even have one specially for teenage girls. I think it's a purple box.
If you need to know more do some research or ask your mother or a trusted female.

What can possibly go wrong? Just be pre-cautious and start buying pads (or tampons). Make sure you start wearing the daily pads (they are very little). They protect from, just incase it comes down and you don't notice it won't stain your clothes.
Also, try talking to your mom about it and ask her. Ask her if she has pain relievers for the cramps just in case such as Midol or Femen.
Good Luck =)
And trust me it's not that bad.
