My husband was living with his mistress but he finally moved back home. She said she could move out of the apartment they shared in a week. He told her to take as much time as she needs. I just found out that she is staying and he is insisting on paying 1/2 the rent still. Why is he helping her?

Sounds like he is trying to keep you both. You need to tell him to go back there to live as long as the apartment and the mistress are there. You can do a lot better!!

I'm sorry, you shouldn't have to deal with this. I would think that he still has strong feelings for her. I wouldn't like the fact that they still have this issue open. Personally, I would want him to commit to me and our marriage exclusively, with no loose ends. I wish the best for you, and hope your reconciliation is successful.
