The temp rose
by 10 degrees in a period of 5 hours so the temp was rising by 10/5 or 2 degrees per hour

well, you want to find the change in of degrees per hour, so you divide the change in temperature by the number of hours.
11am to 4pm is 5 hours
54-44=10
so, 10/5=2

the rate of change is 2 degrees F per hour
