Fight over cigarette leads to murder
Iredell County

Statesville police have charged a 20-year-old man with murder following a fight over a cigarette. Princeton Keon Summers of Statesville was charged with second-degree murder Sunday, said Assistant Chief Tom Anderson.Michael Staunton, 46, of Statesville joined Summers about 5:30 p.m. last Wednesday as Summers was hanging out on a porch. Summers asked Staunton for a cigarette, and when Staunton said he didn't have one, Summers struck him, Anderson said. Staunton was knocked from the porch and hit his head on concrete.

He died from his injuries Saturday at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Summers is being held in the Iredell County jail under a $250,000 secured bond. --

2nd degree murder charge is taking it a bit far.
$250,000 bail ? Over the top too.
I doubt if in England, after a full trial, that guy would be found guilty even of manslaughter.

You need to link up to Baton Rouge's news casts. That's so common that we're desentized to news like that. Even smaller items people are killed over. Oh my stars and don't get started with New Orleans.
