i use to lift last year when i was 14 but i stopped when i heard this. is this just an old wives tale or is has it been proven.

There is no concrete evidence that lifting weights will stunt your growth. Any evidence that shows it could stunt your growth is dealing with big porportions. Try lifting a moderate amount of weights, not too much. Your young and your body is still developing, so lifting too much can put nicks in your bones and damage them permentaly. No need to become a body builder so young. Get fit, tone your body, but don't go into excess. Your diet is most important, and you should compensate for any damage too your bones, like drinking more milk and taking calcium supplements.

It's not proven. It's a lie. Lifting weights won't stop your growth. In fact, exercise, including weight lifting, is healthy and helpful to your body.

Not true. I started lifting at age 14 and I am 6 feet tall. My son started at age 14 and he is now 23 and 6' 2". Lift away.

No lol thats just a stupid mith. I started lifting at 14 when i was like 5'7or8" now im 6"1n ahalf.
if you arent developped DOWN THERE, then working your inner tights will make growth slower.
BUT, squats are proven to increase grouth hormones that make you taller. look up more info on the net about that if you have any questions.

its onlly a myth that on u building ur body u will loose ur growth instinct coz how cana genetic process be marred by some physical activity u undertake however i suppose u should only exercise and use lighter weights and try to tone now and get into curving and abs and packs only when u are 18 or more

It's not true. Working out excessively with the use of steroids could stunt your growth, but for a normal person who works out daily? Nah. It's good for you.
