Sound is caused by something vibrating. Audible sound is something vibrating within the frequency range of the organism or device capable of detecting sound, with some means of transmitting the vibration to the sound detector organ or device.

For example, if an acoustic guitar string vibrates at 440 hertz (cycles per second), it causes the air surrounding it, as well as the air trapped inside the guitar body, to vibrate at the same frequency. The air between the string/guitar and your eardrum transmits the vibration and causes your eardrum to vibrate, your middle ear bones transmit it to your inner ear, and the nerve hairs inside your inner ear's cochlea chamber detect the vibration and send signals to your brain.

If a tree falls in the middle of a forest and there's nobody there to hear it, does it create a sound? Yes, because the vibrations in the tree, ground, and air will still occur.

Sound is produced when the air is disturbed in some way, for example by a vibrating object. A speaker cone from a hi-fi system serves as a good illustration. It may be possible to see the movement of a bass speaker cone, providing it is producing very low frequency sound. As the cone moves forward the air immediately in front is compressed causing a slight increase in air pressure, it then moves back past its rest position and causes a reduction in the air pressure (rarefaction). The process continues so that a wave of alternating high and low pressure is radiated away from the speaker cone at the speed of sound.

sound is made by things vibrateing causing a sound for istant if you strum a gutiar or play a violin the both need to vibrate to make a sound ands that is what the sound is made from. even your voice vibrates if u feel ur voice box when your talking you start to hear vibrations abnd if you go high it goes up if you speak low it goes down.
