If the perimeter of the rectangle is 30 inches, write an equation for the perimeter in standard form.

Then it shows a rectangle with "2x" on top of it and "y" on the right side

Can someone please help? I dont understand.
Even if you answer this for me it will give me an example for the rest of the problems, thanks

The formula for finding the perimeter is 2 lengths plus 2 widths. In the diagram, it appears that 2x and y are length and width.

Therefore, you would write it as follows:

30 = 2(2x) + 2y, and simplify and rewrite in standard form:

4x + 2y = 30

That's it!

Ok, perimeter is all the sides added up and on a rectangle, the two opposite sides are parallel.
So you have two sides that are 2x and two sides that are y.
And all of it equals 30.

So,
2x + 2x + y + y = 30

4x + 2y = 30

Perimeter is defined because the gap round an merchandise or structure. To be extra particular, the sum of all aspects of a polygon. A rectangle is a polygon. To calculate the fringe take the sum (upload) the size of all aspects..... Rectangle 25 meters in length= 50 m (25 x 2 aspects) and 10 meters in width=20 m (10 x 2 aspects) upload them mutually= 70 meters

The perimeter is the sum of all four sides.

So, you have the top (2x), the bottom (2x), the left side (y) and the right side (y).

Add them together:
2x+2x+y+y is the perimeter.

Your problem statement told you that it equals 30, so your equation is:

4x+2y = 30

Well,

P=2(l+w)

So...

30=2(2x+y) Or

30=4x+2y

It seems like the equation would be 2(2x) + 2y = 30.

What's the equation of the perimeter? 2h + 2w = p. So plug in the values: 2y + 4x = 30. You're basically un-doing the problem.

2(2x) + 2(y) = 30

ps. standered form means you just have to have x and y on the same side (ax + by = c) a b and c are the numbers and x and y are what you need to have on that side.

so 4x + 2y =30
and there you have it

4x+2y=P Perimeter is adding all of the sides together, so 2x+2x+y+y=P
