Signing A-rod on that HUGE contract was the biggest mistake ever. Everyone thinks just because he had one big season, he will produce for the next ten years (or at least thats what the Yankee's organization thinks for signing him). But I just can't see the Yank's overpowering the seemingly unstoppable Red Sox.

Sorry to say but you have no idea of what you speak. The Yankees' future looks promising with the arrival of the young arms: Joba, Hughes, Kennedy. Insert them into the starting rotation along with 27 year old Wang and the veteran Petite and we will reclaim the AL East next season. These past seven years our main problem has been pitching. Cashman has millions to spend this off-season and you better be sure he is buying some bullpen help. Joe Girardi is a great manager and he certainly isn't "OLD". Watch the Yankees reemerge into championship form in the next two years.

Well signing A Rod, again, was the worst thing they could have done. The Yankees need pitching. Unless they get pitching, they will not advance any further than the first round of playoffs, if they even make the playoffs in 2008 All the A Rods in the world are not going to help them without pitching, and if they do get the needed pitching they still don't need A Rod, so no matter how you look at it, signing A Rod, again, was a terrible move.

They'll definitely be a better team next year. They'll have the same great offense, plus better pitching. It's not superb pitching, but it's better than last year. If the Yankees got that far last year with bad pitching, then they might be able to go all the way in 2008.

Yeah I agree somewhat, I think if they get Santana from the twins that would take them from alds losers to alcs winners. I think the younger pitching like Joba and Phil Huges will improve, but I don't think it will make them much better than last year. Resigning Posada and A-Rod was huge for them though. Posada had a great season hitting, and having a good catcher is important in helping developing the pitchers I listed above and A-Rod is the best player in baseball. Oh and the guy above me A-Rod has had more than one good year he's been MVP 3 times 2 in the last 3 years(yes he will win this year). Bottom line if the get a good pitcher from a trade they get to the world series, If they don't yeah another alds loss.

Their young pitchers will be better in 2008 and the team should be better because of it. The Yankees had the best offensive numbers in MLB last year and came up short because of pitching.

I think things will be better next year. A-rod was fantastic last year. Although he didnt do amazing in the post season the clutch master Jeter didnt exactly shine either. The pitching for next year will be young and talented though and i think robinson cano can be even better this year and he already was good last year.

I dont think that signing ARod was a "championship" move. IMO, they signed him to benefit from his upcoming assaults on the MLB record books. I know they dont have a problem with media coverage or selling out parks across the country, but having a constant spotlight over the next 7-8 years wont hurt either.
