how can it cause a miscarriage? The heat is not good for the baby or something? I love hot baths! I'm not pregnant right now that I know of (no AF since May, spotting in Sept though,) but I have been TTC for several years and just heard this the other day.

It won't cause a miscarriage like doctors used to believe. They thought the water would raise the temp of your fluid and hurt the baby.

Baths are fine as long as the water stays below 100 degrees. And even if the mother got in water over 100 degrees, it wouldn't harm the baby unless she her body was submerged in more than 10 or 15 minutes.

I think its because when you are pregnant you are more prone to fainting spells an if you go into a hot bath you have more chance of fainting i suppose!! Its not true that it can cause miscarriage!! Y wud it?? Baby is inside you all nice and warm already so what difference will heat from bath make?? I have a lovely hot bath every night an my partner sits in bathroom with me just incase i faint!! Im 14 weeks pregnant by the way!! I also had warm baths when i was pregnant with my son an daughter. x

At one time, there were concerns that hot baths and hot tubs made amniotic fluid warmer which could be detrimental to the fetus. Doctors have backed off on that recently because, in fact, the amniotic fluid does not change temperature. The recommendation seems to apply only to those who are pregnant with multiples, although I am not certain why (belly is further out maybe).

A warm bath is fine, it was anything over body temperature that was a concern. Go by what your physician recommends.

I love hot hot baths too, but your not supposed to have them because the baby has no way or regulating its temperature, so if you have a hot bath and over heat the baby it can be very bad. Warm baths are okay though.

You can take warm baths. You are not suppose to go in a hot tub. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) states that becoming overheated in a hot tub is not recommended during pregnancy. ACOG also recommends that pregnant women never let their core body temperature rise above 102.2º F. Some studies have shown an increased risk of birth defects in babies of women who had an increased body temperature during the first trimester of pregnancy. Hot tubs are often factory programmed to maintain a water temperature of approximately 104º F. It takes only 10-20 minutes in a hot tub to raise your body temperature to 102º F or higher.

Warm baths are fine, its jacuzzis that are not recomended. The reason is because jacuzzis never cool down, they stay the same temp, which is very hot, the entire time your in it. So your body temp goes up and stays up which is not good for the baby.
A warm bath usually starts off cooler than a normal jacuzzi, and from the minute you get in it, it starts cooling off.

I took warm baths with both of my kids and if i had a bathtub now i would with this one aswell. The only thing is that you can't have it too hot just like a shower If anything a bath relaxed your sore back and relaxes you and I find it helped me to sleep. Good luck

they can take warm baths just not extremely hot.the reason they say not to take a hot bath is because it raises your temp and then it raises the babies temp as well and it should not be high
