I am pregnant with a boy and we are debating whether or not to call him Myles, but since I can't take the criticizing from our family I want to see what strangers think of the name. Thanks!

I love the name Miles or Myles. It is a unique and cute boys name that to me emphasizes intelligence and kindness. We considered it for my son, however the reason that we didn't use it is that my husband disliked it. He didn't like it because he said "there are two kinds of boys-- the ones who hit the baseball and the ones that sit in the outfield and stare at the clouds." According to him, Miles would not be a ball-hitter. He didn't want to give him a name like that.

To me, the name says sensitive and that's important to me. But to a lot of men, that means wimpy.

Those are the two sides of Miles as I see it. If your hubby likes it too, go for it!

I love the name, and it means merciful soldier, so to me it is the perfect balance between strong and sensitive.

I give Miles a 10, Myles an 8 but my hubby would give it a 2.

I think Myles is a cute name. I like the spelling Myles better than Miles. I would say it's a 7

Personally I don't like the name Miles, because that name for some reason always reminds me of a bully. (No offence) Also, spelling it with a y makes it more feminine, and makes me think of the names Myley, Myla etc.

But, Myles isn't so bad either. There are worse names out there, and Myles is very masculine. I like it with a y, although it seems more feminine.

I don't hate it, but I don't like it either, so I give it a 5.

I give it a 10! I love it! Myles is an adorable name that will grow great with him into adulthood. It's not overly-used either. I just love it!

PS- Don't listen to your family (as hard as it may be), after all... it's YOUR son!

I love Miles.

I'm not sure I get the spelling with the "y" - it looks a bit like the version you'd find in a centuries-old document reproduced in a history textbook. Myles feels moldering; Miles feels like a throwback in a cool way.
